Our communities are intimately connected to these waterways and to the coast. Rivers have provided a means of transportation, food, livelihood, waterpower, and access to the wider world. Our community stories illustrate our relationship to the land and the water. The Five Rivers region is ten minutes north of Freeport,
Maine, half an hour north of Portland, Maine and two and a half hours north
of Boston. We are half an hour south of Augusta, an hour and a
half south of Bangor. We are two and a half hours southwest of
Ellsworth, one hour southwest of Rockland. Find out more about our communities:
The Maine Fiberarts Tour Map is available for visitors traveling to the beautiful state of Maine interested in art, craft and farms. This self-guided, illustrated Tour Map is your resource for discovering art studios, cashmere farms, spinneries, craft schools and supply shops (yarn stores, fabric shops, basketry shops, etc.) along the byways and back roads of Maine. As an added attraction, almost all of the sites listed on the map will be open to the public August 7, 8, 9, 2009 for a Fiber Arts Tour Weekend at the height of Maine’s summer season. Pick up at Maine Fiberarts, 13 Main St Topsham. |
